What Bobath really is — without the myths
It is not a massage, not a passive routine, and not a one-off procedure. It is an approach built between sessions.
Parents often come to us after being told "the child needs Bobath". What exactly that means is rarely explained.
Bobath, or NDT (Neurodevelopmental Treatment), is a way of working with a child with central nervous system involvement, grounded in typical motor development. The therapist does not stretch and does not massage. They create the conditions for the child to find a better movement themselves.
That is why one session a week is not enough. Bobath is also how you carry the child, how they sit at dinner, how you dress them. We teach the family — and that is what makes the therapy lasting.
